HGC and A1 Telekom Austria announce IPX peering arrangement for Europe and Asia

HGC Global Communications and A1 Telekom Austria have partnered on an IPX-peering agreement.

The agreement between the Hong Kong fixed-line operator and Austrian telco aims to enable mobile network operators and carrier partners to exchange IP traffic across secure channels without using the internet.

The partnership means HGC and A1 Telekom Austria can deliver their clients greater reach through each of their IPX platforms. These support seamless integrated services such as voice over LTE (VoLTE), internet of thing (IoT) solutions and mobile value added services.

Ravindran Mahalingam, SVP for HGC’s International Business said: “We do see more and more network traffic driven by over-the top (OTT) services and applications, and the forthcoming arrival of 5G will create more and more data traffic around the globe, including traffic between Europe and Asia. The IPX-peering agreement strengthens the foundation of our partnership with A1 Telekom Austria AG. We look forward to strengthening our network to providing the reliability and connectivity that end-users demand today.”

Franz Bader, A1 Telekom Austria AG’s director of wholesale added, “We believe this new agreement with HGC will enable us to deliver a wider range of services and products for our customers, thus addressing the needs for network traffic in Europe and Asia. The new IPX agreement offers us new opportunities in delivering next-generation services, content and applications.”
