Flexenclosure has expanded its presence in Southeast Asia by launching a new eCentre data centre in partnership with Globe Telecom.
The firm, which designs and manufactures prefabricated data centres and power systems for telecoms sites said it has received an order to build a multi-million dollar eCentre data centre for Philippine operator Globe Telecom.
The new site will be deployed on the souther island of Mindanao, with prefabrication of the eCentre already commencing at Flexenclosure’s factory in Sweden.
The company has partnered with Manila-based Orissa Wicomm to deliver the facility, which is expected to be commissioned and fully operational in Q3 of this year. Orissa will be tasked with providing system integration and ongoing support once Globe’s new data centre is live.
“We are committed to delivering market-leading services to our customers; on the network infrastructure side, this means flexible, modular and low cost,” said Gil Genio, chief technology and information officer/chief strategy officer of Globe Telecom.
“Our new data centre in Mindanao is part of our network build to ramp up capacity and provide innovative services to our growing broadband, enterprise and consumer market segments. It employs this modular architecture that allows us to rapidly add infrastructure with growth."
The project is Flexenclosure’s first in the Philippines and marks the company’s growing presence in the Asia Pacific region following recent orders in Australia and on a number of Pacific islands including Palau, Samoa and Fiji.
“With new projects in Australia, Palau, Samoa, Fiji and Myanmar, 2017 was a year of major expansion for us in Asia Pacific,” said David King, CEO, Flexenclosure. “This latest project with Globe Telecom and Orissa Wicomm in the Philippines marks the start of what we expect will be another year of significant growth in the region.”
