HGC Global Communications has become one of the first fixed-line operators to partner with WeChat to launch its pay services in Hong Kong.
The WeChat Pay HK service will allow customers to purchase the “hgc on air” Wi-Fi Pass using the mobile app, WeChat Pay HK.
HGC said the service will allow it to meet an increasing demand for wifi services by making it easier for smartphone users to purchase an “hgc on air” pass in an encrypted-payment environment through the newly added WeChat Pay Wallet’s value-added service called “Telecom payment”.
The payment service will be made available to Hong Kong’s population of WeChat users in phases. It will eventually enable HGC broadband customers to pay for services such as their home broadband bills using a mobile device and WeChat Pay HK.
HGC is Hong Kong’s largest outdoor Wi-Fi service provider2, running over 29,000 Wi-Fi hotspots in Hong Kong, including large shopping malls, chain coffee shops, fast food stores, popular restaurants, entertainment facilities, commercial buildings and private estates.
