Liquid Telecom's South Africa CEO to step down

Liquid Telecom’s CEO for South Africa Kyle Whitehill is to leave the African operator in order to return to the UK to be with his family.

Whitehill has only been Liquid Telecom South Africa CEO since April of last year, when he joined from Ezdan Holding Group, where he had served as chief executive for a year. Prior to that, he held a variety of roles with Vodafone, including CEO of Qatar and CEO of its Ghanian unit.

Whitehill will step down from the role at the end of March when his contract expires, Liquid said. He has “helped reshape the business as a leading communications services and solutions provider, enabling more customers to access high-speed, reliable connectivity across South Africa,” the company added.

Liquid Telecom group CEO thanked Whitehill for his contribution to the company. He said: ““Kyle has decided to return home to be with his family who remained in the UK during his time in South Africa. We thank Kyle for his determination and drive that has seen the company go through many positive changes and renewed focus. With our strong leadership team in place, the company will continue to build Africa’s digital future.”

It comes asLiquid Telecom announced the launch of new carrier-grade data centre facilities in Johannesburg and Cape Town through its subsidiary Africa Data Centres.

South Africa Data Centre (SADC) Johannesburg and SADC Cape Town, which are ISO 27001 certified and already home to nearly 100 customers, will provide leading cloud service providers, carriers and enterprises with additional rack space and colocation services to meet the rising demand for cloud-based services in Southern Africa.
