In a tweet Ottendorfer said:

In his role Ottendorfer was responsible for “for overseeing the company’s network, technology and product development organizations, including related strategy, network operations and performance, as well as partnerships with network, technology and product vendors,” according to his profile on the Sprint website.
A Sprint representative also confirmed this in a statement saying that Ottendorfer is leaving in order “to join his family in Austria and pursue other opportunities”. Adding that during his two years with the company Ottendorfer “helped drive new technology innovations and steadily improve the performance of our network. We thank him for his leadership and dedication. He will be missed and we wish him all the best in his next endeavour.”
The news comes weeks after Sprints merger talks with T-Mobile US fell apart. The long anticipated merging of the two companies were called off after SoftBank Sprint’s parent company and Deutsche Telekom, T-Mobile US’ parent company failed to reach an agreement over the structure and control of the combined company.
Prior to working with Sprint, Ottendorfer has over 20 years’ experience in the telecoms industry and was one of the founding members of the Austrian mobile operator, Max.Mobil. Additionally, he has held roles as COO and Chief Technology Officer of T-Mobile Austria, CTO of T-Mobile Germany and European Technology Director at Group level for T-Mobile International, as well as senior positions at include Optus and Telekom Austria Group.
