As a result of the expansion, to Equinix International Business Exchange (IBX) data centres, customers can easily connect to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) using Oracle Cloud Infrastructure FastConnect.
They will do this within the Equinix FR5 IBX data centre in Frankfurt via dedicated cross connects and the Equinix Cloud Exchange (ECX). In addition, the platform integration of Oracle and Equinix platform connects with OCI FastConnect via ECX for customers in eight new metros in North America and seven in Europe.

In total, the expansion brings the number of Oracle FastConnect enabled Equinix IBX data centres to six and the total number of locations with FactConnect connectivity is 18 global metros.
The move enables enterprise customers across North America and Europe to migrate and run compute, applications and data workloads to Oracle Cloud in a high-throughput and scalable manner.

Earlier this month, Cloudscene published the results of its Q3 data centre leaderboard and for the three consecutive quarters Equinix has dominated the board as the lead across all three regions even increasing its market share by 8.3% between Q1 to Q3 of 2017.
