DE-CIX and PacketFabric partner to expand end user access

PacketFabric has launched 100Gbps interconnections into DE-CIX’s North American platforms.

The move enables DE-CIX to expand its reach into new markets and locations by using PacketFabric’s network of on-net locations to access DE-CIX services in a flexible and cost effective way. Additionally, DE-CIX is able to provide peering capabilities to traditionally underserved markets.

William Charnock, CEO of PacketFabric, said: "The partnership between PacketFabric and DE-CIX allows DE-CIX to expand its internet exchange services beyond its current points of presence and adds yet another crucial service partner to PacketFabric's ever-expanding ecosystem. This also offers our customers cost-effective access to the DE-CIX platforms from any point on our fabric."

Both parties are set to benefit from the deal, giving them use of a range of shared services which include access DE-CIX’s internet exchange platforms which allow customers to specify alternate routes to reduce latency. Through the use of PacketFabric’s SDN offering, the process of sourcing and provisioning network connectivity is greatly simplified all while giving access to dynamic bandwidth. Also its RESTful API and intuitive web portal which enables instantaneous provisioning and management of services. Lastly PacketFabric’s any-to-any full mesh Ethernet service provides added security.

Ed d'Agostino, vice president of DE-CIX North America, added: "This collaboration allows PacketFabric customers access to the DE-CIX Internet Exchange platforms, enabling access to multiple types of services across a single port. The relationship helps us continue to deliver the most cost-effective and technically efficient method for interconnection available. Whether it's for internet, transit or cloud-based connectivity, our North American customers now have options for effective delivery of all types of data."

DE-CIX North America, the carrier and data centre-neutral internet exchange operator, enables the use of multiple Internet Exchange platforms across major carrier data centres in the New York-Jersey metro area, as well as the only open carrier neutral IX in the Dallas-Fort Worth market. PacketFabric operates an entirely automated SDN-based network architecture and is a member of the NantWorks ecosystem of companies.

DE-CIX's Franfurt data centre reached an all time peak of 5.88 Tbps only last month, a rate assumed to be in conjunction with the release of the new Apple devices. As for PacketFabric the company recently deployed its SDN platform across of EdgeConneX portfolio of edge data centres
