Orange and Facebook team on infrastructure startup accelerator

Orange has partnered with Facebook to develop a technology accelerator aimed at supporting French startups in the network infrastructure sector.

Under the Telecom Infrastructure Project umbrella, Facebook and the French operator have launched Orange Fab France “Telecom Track” accelerator.

The project will be managed through Orange’s existing accelerator programme, Orange Fab France, in Paris, and will engage directly with innovative startups looking to tackle a range of network-related problems, ranging from network management to new access technologies.

Leading experts from Orange, Facebook and other partners will engage directly with the startups, who will be able to participate in dedicated workshops ad sessions. They will also receive an additional, and optional, €15,000 in funding.

Companies looking to take part have until 14 May 2017 to submite enries, with Orange expected to select a number of partners to join the programme who will be given the opportunity to present at a future Orange launch event.

As part of our network evolution towards 5G and future technologies, there is a huge opportunity to innovate at the network level, and a need to support the bright minds and talents that will keep pushing telecoms innovation forward,” said Mari-Noëlle Jégo-Laveissière, EVP of innovation, marketing and technologies, Orange.

“We believe that with our partnership with Facebook  and the opening of the new Telecom Track, we are able to encourage and support this community of startups, which has the ability to really disrupt this space and develop new innovation within telecoms.”

“Facebook is looking forward to working with Orange and TIP to support this start-up accelerator,” said Jay Parikh, head of engineering and infrastructure, Facebook. “Working together, we hope to help identify and support  telecoms network infrastructure innovation while helping pave the way for future breakthroughs.”
