The Datacenter Group Amsterdam to become new AMS-IX PoP

The Datacenter Group (TDCG) is to become a new point of presence (PoP) for internet exchange, AMS-IX.

The multi-year contract, which was recently signed by the CEO of each respective company (picture below), sees the two parties join forces to provide a larger supply of data centres with AMS-IX connectivity.

“We see that the Dutch digital infrastructure keeps growing at an enormous rate. The Dutch data centre market is even the fastest growing market in Europe,” said Job Witteman, CEO of AMS-IX.

“As neutral party we wish to spread our presence over a number of data centres. This corresponds with the philosophy of the AMS-IX model: we believe in partnerships in a collaborative setting with other parties. In this way we have been strengthening the digital infrastructure of the Netherlands and the world for over twenty years.”

AMS-IX will offer additional diversity in the data centre space to its customers. TDCG, which is a carrier and ISP-neutral twin data centre located in Amsterdam and Delft, will offer customers in Delft with the opportunity to use the AMS-IX PoP in Amsterdam.

Siemon van den Berg, TDCG CEO, added: “We’re not just proud that AMS-IX has chosen our data centre to be their fourteenth POP, but it’s also a good development that AMS-IX locations will remain present in data centres with Dutch owners. Demand for data centre capacity has increased exponentially in recent years. This trend will continue in the years to come. As a result, the demand for reliable and high quality connectivity will also increase. The connection with AMS-IX provides our service with a new ELAN. Both our national as well as international clients are presented with access to the global and outstanding peering-infrastructure of AMS-IX.”
