EdgeConnex adds Megaport SDN interconnect fabric in global EDCs

EdgeConneX is deploying Megaport’s elastic interconnect fabric in its edge data centres (EDCs) globally, enabling more direct connectivity to leading cloud providers.
As cloud traffic is expected to increase nearly four-fold in the next three years, according to Cisco’s Global Cloud Index, Megaport is rolling out its software-defined network (SDN) platform in EDCs across North America and Europe to enhance connectivity at the edge of networks.
EdgeConneX's enterprise customers will gain scalable, private and direct connections to leading cloud service providers, such as Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS).

Megaport partnered with Aqua Comms in November to enable elastic interconnection on the America-Europe-Connect (AEConnect) subsea cable running between New York and Ireland and with data centre and colocation provider Digital Realty in September to launch a Service Exchange platform to facilitate direct, private and secure connections to multiple cloud service providers.
