SMS pioneers honoured at Messaging and SMS World conference

The SMS World Award Winners were unveiled in front of a packed audience at this year’s Messaging and SMS World conference in London last night.

The awards followed the first day of the conference, which saw more than 500 figures from the world of messaging come together to discuss the future of SMS at the Radison Blu Portman hotel.

OpenMarket was the big winner, going home with two awards. The first was given for Best Strategic Partnership, while it also bagged victory in the Most Innovative Use of SMS category for its partnership with Virgin Trains.

The award for Best A2P SMS Messaging Provider went to Mahindra Comviva, while Airtel Business won the award for Best SMS Solution.

Best SMS Integration with other types of services was picked up by Türk Telekom International, while Best Fraud Solution for SMS went to Telefónica Global Advertising.

The final award of the night was the Lifetime Achievement Award, which was given in recognition of an individual’s contribution to the SMS industry. The award was given to Andrew Bud, the founder and CEO at verification services provider Iproov. Bud also chairs MEF, and was a speaker at the conference.
