365 Data Centers, Zayo seal Tier 2 cloud partnership

Edge colocation provider 365 Data Centers has announced a strategic alliance which will see Zayo provide its customers with cloud connectivity to 11 of its 13 data centres across the US.

365 Data Centers, which is a provider for cloud, content, carriers and enterprises in Tier 2 markets, and Zayo are ensuring customers get the service and connectivity needed to public and private clouds. Along with Zayo, which has an 112,600-mile network in North America and Europe, the joint proposition provides high-capacity transport over a fibre backbone.

"The alliance with Zayo is beneficial for customers of both 365 and Zayo," said John Scanlon, CEO of 365 Data Centers. "Many of today's enterprise IT architectures are designed to leverage the advantages of professionally-managed data centres combined with direct, Layer 2 access to the cloud. This is exactly what customers get with Zayo and 365."

Sandi Mays, CIO at Zayo, added: "Zayo enables our customers with private access to the cloud from more tier two markets at the edge. This relationship with 365 Data Centers is an excellent option for our existing customers and makes our network and services available to more 365 Data Centers' customers."

The 11 carrier-neutral facilities which are part of the agreement are: Buffalo, Chicago, Cleveland, Emeryville, Indianapolis, Nashville, New York, Phoenix, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and San Jose.

Last month, Telia Carrier signed a deal to offer 1000Gbps services to customers in 365 Data Center’s Pittsburgh edge facility via its IP backbone.
