Tele2 appoints international chief

Tele2 has appointed former Orange and EE executive Guillaume van Gaver to lead its global operations as EVP effective July 5, 2016.

Van Gaver will oversee the company’s operations in Austria, the Baltics, Croatia, Germany and Kazakhstan and report to president and CEO Allison Kirkby.

“[Van Gaver] is a proven telecoms leader, with many years of experience from different markets and companies in the industry, showcasing great results," said Kirkby.

Van Gaver presently serves as director of Connected World Services Europe, owned by Carphone Warehouse. Prior to that, he was vice president of marketing at EE as well as head of sales and loyalty at Orange UK.

"Tele2's challenger profile is very attractive to me and I am thrilled to be joining such a strong value driven company. I believe I can build from my experience to deliver strong success with the local team in their respective markets," said van Gaver.

At the same time of the announcement, EVP of new growth and strategy at the company Lars Torstensson has resigned “to pursue new opportunities”.

Torstensson, who will remain in his position at Tele2 until mid November, joined Tele2 in 2007 and has held various top management roles within investor relations, communications, strategy and new growth.
