Telefónica and Fortinet sign managed security services deal

Telefónica has signed a strategic alliance agreement with Fortinet to add the latter’s security fabric architecture into its managed security services portfolio.

The partnership with security infrastructure provider Fortinet is said to provide Telefónica’s customers with a cohesive and intelligent security offering that protects distributed environments - in addition to giving them the ability to build and enforce seamless and consistent security policy on local and cloud networks as well as across advanced architectures.

Today’s customers face a shortage in security talent as well as stringent regulations and compliance requirements amid an evolving cyber threat landscape, according to Pedro Pablo Perez, ElevenPaths’ CEO and global security managing director of Telefónica.

“In order to succeed, they are turning to partners to help them implement the processes and technology required. A critical differentiation that Telefónica and Fortinet provide to customers is adaptive and intelligent security technology,” said Perez.

“Fortinet's Security Fabric combined with Telefónica's ElevenPaths products provides a cohesive, intelligent security offering that sees and protects distributed environments, which means they can build and enforce seamless and consistent security policy on local and cloud networks, or across advanced architectures," he added.

Fortinet is already delivering services integrated with some of Telefónica’s key managed security services which include the CleanPipes service, ElevenPath’s FAAST persistent and virtual patching service, as well as ElevenPath’s metashield protector service.

Telefónica claims Fortinet’s security fabric – combined with ElevenPaths’ products and security services from Telefónica – enables its customers to benefit from a scalable and broad threat protection service without compromising agility or performance.
