Simon Dodsworth to chair GBET executive council

The Global Business Exchange for Telecom (GBET), the carrier-led association created to collaboratively develop actionable solutions for the electronic exchange of business information, announces today that Simon Dodsworth, vice president, head of voice and mobile at Telia Carrier, has been elected as new chair of the GBET Executive Council.

Dodsworth is assuming leadership from Margaret Morosi, head of global services for Deutsche Telekom International Carrier Sales & Solutions (ICSS), who will be heading a new portfolio Service and Business Architecture with Telstra International in Hong Kong.

“These are big shoes to fill,” comments Dodsworth. “Margaret has been the driving force behind GBET since its inception, and she deserves the lion’s share of recognition for our progress to date. She will be missed, but leaves behind a very clear set of principles we will all continue to uphold.”

Dodsworth will focus on continuing industry adoption of the GBET eContract, devised to deliver simplification and standardization for contract exchanges between carrier organisations and to accelerate the transaction process.

He notes that the wholesale telecom market is facing increasing complexities, underscoring the need to simplify transactions to avoid disputes, settlement delays and excessive administration.

“It remains our primary focus at GBET to explore additional ways of tapping into the collaborative spirit of the carrier community and promoting solutions for the many headaches we experience,” explains Dodsworth.  “The eContract was devised to address these very issues and has been adopted by an increasing number of carriers. We plan to focus on furthering that momentum.”

Dodsworth is supported by GBET’s Executive Council, which includes Directors: Caroline Varley, vice president, European sales (Voice) at Orange; Ronnie Klingner, president, mobility, security, digital communication solutions at PCCW Global; Gagun Gahir, regional manager, voice EMEAA for Telstra Global; Judit Gerloczy, head of trading, CEE & Asia for Deutsche Telekom, and Katherine Doe, vice president, commercial operations for iBasis.
