Zain Group appoints chief risk officer

Zain Group has appointed AbdulGhaffar Setareh to the newly created role of chief risk officer.

Seterah will report directly to the board risk committee and be responsible for delivering the global risk framework and strategy across all operations within the company.

Seterah first joined Zain in 1995 as a senior transmission engineer, and most recently served as group risk director.

“Risk Management is a top priority at Zain and critical to the company’s future prosperity,” said Scott Gegenheimer, Zain Group CEO.

“Mr. Setareh’s extensive experience will ensure we continue to enhance the operational effectiveness of the Group’s risk oversight and control assurance processes, which is critical to our efforts to transform into an integrated digital lifestyle operator, with a particular emphasis on enterprise solutions.”

During his tenure at Zain Group, Seterah has implemented an enterprise-wide risk management framework for the entire group, as well as group-wide information security and business continuity management initiatives, among other key milestones.

“I appreciate the confidence that has been placed in me by the Zain Group board risk committee and senior management, and look forward to further strengthening the company’s risk management capabilities and ensuring that enterprise rick management at Zain is a strategic enabler in achieving our objectives,” said Setarah.

In November last year, Zain Group appointed its first female CEO, Eaman Al Roudhan, to head up its Kuwaiti operations
