TeliaSonera appoints COO

TeliaSonera has appointed Anders Olsson, present EVP of strategic projects, as COO and head of global services and operations as well as member of the group’s executive management team.

Olsson will take on his position in TeliaSonera on July 8 2016 at the latest, according to TeliaSonera.

Olsson joined Tele2 in 1997 and has held various positions in the company. He was CCO from January 2006 to September 2015 and most recently begun work on the operator's strategic projects from October 2015.

“I am very pleased that we have been able to attract Anders to join TeliaSonera," said Johan Dennelind, president and CEO of TeliaSonera. "He has a long career in a successful company and his leadership and experience will be very valuable in the next phase of shaping of TeliaSonera."

Last October, TeliaSonera combined its group technology and group commercial into a global services and operations (GSO) unit and the merged group has been operational since January 2016. The unit - which includes TeliaSonera International Carrier (TSIC) - is said to be responsible for creating new businesses, exploring potential revenue streams and long term investment opportunities.
