EE maintains 4G growth in Q3

UK operator EE grew its 4G customer base by 1.7 million in Q3 2015, helping it to maintain its lead as Europe’s largest 4G operator.

The operator has a total of 12.6 million 4G customers and is said to be on track to exceed its target of 14 million 4G customers by the end of the year. 4G customers are said to represent more than 52% of the total EE mobile customer base.

“We’ve seen strong commercial momentum as business and consumers embrace the benefits of our network, with more than two-thirds of postpaid mobile customers now using 4G, providing a solid platform for the future,” said Neal Milsom, CFO, EE.

During the quarter, EE also grow its M2M connections year-on-year by 12.4% to 2.1 million. IT has continued to invest in its 4G IoT platform EE Connect, with the Royal Mail Group becoming its first major customer.

EE is still subject of an ongoing £12.5 billion bid from BT
