Vodafone extends branding deal with MTS Ukraine

Vodafone Group has struck a deal to extend its strategic partnership with MTS to use its brand in Ukraine.

Under the non-equity partnership, both companies will roll out 3G and introduce services in the market using the Vodafone brand in the country.

“Undoubtedly, the launch of the Vodafone brand in Ukraine is the most significant event in the market over recent years,” said Oleg Prozhyvalsky, general director of MTS Ukraine. “The implementation of the company’s unique global technological and marketing expertise in Ukraine will have a positive impact for consumers, enterprises and the economy.”

The companies have been working together since the original partner market agreement was signed in 2008. Under the earlier agreement, MTS gained exclusive access to a range of products, services and devices from Vodafone for both consumer and corporate markets.

It was also able to utilise Vodafone’s expertise in marketing and deployment of technologies. The latest agreement will build on the existing partnership, said the companies.

Under the latest partnership, Vodafone is expected to introduce a number of its services to the Ukrainian market, including bundled offers, competitive long-distance international calls and free roaming when overseas. Ukrainian customers are also said to be able to benefit from Vodafone’s extensive 3G experience when MTS launches the technology in the coming months.

Headquartered in Kyiv, MTS Ukraine has over 20 million customers and 3,800 employees.
