GBI joins London Internet Exchange

Gulf Bridge International (GBI) has become a partner of the London Internet Exchange (LINX).

The partnership forms part of GBI’s ongoing strategy to extend beyond capacity-based services to enterprise, cloud and value-added services. Last month, GBI connected to Etisalat’s SmartHubin Dubai, and has also begun deploying Ciena’s converged packet-optical networking solutions.

The Middle Eastern subsea cable operator becomes one of over 640 LINX members spanning 65 countries. The partnership is said to strengthen LINX’s position in the Middle East and Asia, where it is aiming to grow its interconnections and traffic.

“As global traffic continues to grow, peering becomes an integral part of any network provider’s services,” said Jennifer Holmes, business development manager at LINX. “Delivering traffic from this region to London gives GBI’s customers faster, more resilient services and further benefits both our organisations. LINX membership just keeps getting better and better.”
