Singtel signs MoU with Singapore’s cyber security agency

Singtel has signed a MoU with the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore (CSA) designed to develop and strengthen Singapore’s cyber security capabilities.

The agreement is aimed at building up local expertise in cyber security, and includes developing joint R&D institutes.

Singtel has stepped up its focus on cyber security following its acquisition of US network security services provider Trustwave for a reported $770 million in September. The MoU aims to leverage Singtel’s cyber security solutions, which are said to offer customers end-to-end protection of their databases, networks, applications and devices.

“We have chosen to partner Singtel because of their strong commitment to Singapore’s cyber security and focus on the improvement of skills and technology,” said David Koh, chief executive of Cyber Security Agency.

“Their interests extend beyond Singapore shores yet they remain focused on building up local capabilities through training and certification programmes, and research and development in advanced solutions.”

Additionally, Singtel has launched an Advanced Security Operations Centre (ASOC) in Singapore through its partnership with FireEye. The ASOC monitors advanced cyber threats globally and aims to help customers overcome malicious software attacks.
