Comcast launches enterprise services unit

Comcast has launched an enterprise services division in a bid to attract new revenue, Reuters reports.

The US cable giant will reportedly use the new unit to sell broadband, Wifi, Ethernet and other services to large enterprises in the Fortune 1000 list.

The unit, Enterprise Services, will sit under Comcast’s Business division which presently provides services for small-to-medium businesses.

Targeting companies with notably higher revenue is expected to help Comcast compete better with rivals AT&T and Verizon.

In an interview, Bill Stemper, president of Comcast Business, allegedly told reporters that the company has “that $1 billion mark in our mind” for the new division.

“In five to six years it should be starting to get to that level,” Stemper said.

In June this year, Comcast quashed rumours that it was looking to acquire T-Mobile.
