Spain to launch mobile auction
01 September 2015 |
Spain is preparing to launch an auction of mobile frequencies in the 2.6GHz band in a bid to help operators improve their 4G coverage, the country’s government has said.
The 2.6GHz band enables mobile operators to improve reception in buildings as well as broaden their 4G coverage, and the Industry Ministry said in a statement: “In the coming weeks, the bidding procedure will start for the frequency bands in the 2.6GHz range.”
Officials did not divulge the amount they expected to raise from the auction nor how the auction would run.
Spain held its first mobile spectrum auction in 2011, raising €1.82 billion.
