Huawei Marine completes Nigeria-Cameroon marine installation

Huawei Marine Networks has today revealed that it has completed marine installation of the Nigeria-Cameroon Submarine Cable System (NCSCS).

Roll-out began in early August, and completion of the cable’s marine installation is a major development towards the system being ready for service at the end of year.

“Huawei Marine is thrilled to have achieved this project milestone,” said Jas Dhooper, VP of service delivery, Huawei Marine.

“Our teams have worked closely with our subcontractor Global Marine Systems to deliver the system on time and to specification. We’re committed to building a global platform that services the growing needs of our diverse customers, through our innovated turnkey solutions.”

The route is designed to deliver 12.8Tbps of capacity to broadband users in both Nigeria and Cameroon, and Mike Constable, CEO at Huawei Marine, said that it paves the way for improving communications infrastructure between the two countries.

“Completion of NCSCS will realize phase one of Cameroon’s strategies to implement a National Broadband Network, which will enable international connectivity to Europe and beyond and significantly boost the economic and commercial development of Cameroon,” Constable added.
