Telenor Sweden selects Ericsson for VoLTE and Wifi Calling
11 August 2015 |
Telenor Sweden has selected national vendor Ericsson for the upgrade of its core network to include the availability of VoLTE, Wifi Calling and richer communications services (RCS).
The two companies have signed a five year deal which will see Ericsson act as sole supplier for the upgrade.
The Swedish vendor will implement a full suite of products and services enabling Telenor Sweden to offer HD voice and simultaneous surfing over LTE networks, as well as Wifi Calling, designed to allow customers to use operator voice services over their own home Wifi access point.
“Ericsson’s comprehensive portfolio and expertise will be a great asset to us as we upgrade our core network,” said Stefan Jäverbring, CTO at Telenor Sweden.
“The flexibility and scalability of the services deployed is just as important as their performance, and we believe this will provide an excellent platform for Telenor as we build Sweden’ leading mobile network.”
Operations are set to begin during Q3 2015 and further services include Ericsson’s Wifi Mobility Gateway, User Data Consolidation and Mobile SoftSwitch Solution.
“Our solutions and global expertise will support Telenor Sweden in its mission to secure superior network performance, to deliver seamless services and consequently provide the best customer experience,” said Charlotta Sund, head of Ericsson’s region Northern Europe and Central Asia.
“We look forward to continuing the long and fruitful relationship we have with Telenor as we help them deliver richer communications services to their customers.”
