Equinix begins expansion of Singapore data centre

Equinix has begun the second phase of expansion for its SG3 data centre in Singapore.

The $350 million expansion will add 2000 cabinets bringing its total operational capacity to 3000 cabinets. SG3 is Equinix’s largest data centre in Asia-Pacific stretching over approximately 385,000 square feet.

The facility aims to cater to the growing demand for data centre services from the cloud and financial sectors.

“Singapore is en-route to becoming a Smart Nation, integrating all aspects of technology into a coherent and cohesive whole to improve the way people live, work and play,” said Clement Goh, managing director, Equinix South Asia. “We hope to support Singapore’s vision by providing our customers with direct access to established business ecosystems.”

Since March, Equinix has opened five data centres across four continents, including New York, Singapore, Melbourne, London and Toronto.
