AT&T reportedly on verge of regulatory approval for DirecTV acquisition

AT&T has reportedly received approval from the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for its proposed $48.5 billion acquisition of DirecTV.

Reuters has reported that at least three of the five FCC commissioners have voted in favour of the deal, according to people familiar with the votes.

AT&T first agreed a deal for DirecTV in 2014, which would merge the second largest US mobile operator with the country’s largest satellite TV provider.

The FCC’s vote is the final regulatory step towards completion of the merger.
