MTNL appoints chairman

Indian state-run operator MTNL has reportedly appointed Narenda Kumar Yadav as chairman and managing director (CMD) of the company.

In a statement, the company said that PK Purwar had “relinquished the charge of CMD of MTNL”, and Yadav took on the role with effect from June 8, 2015.

Purwar allegedly took over responsibility for the role in Mary 2014 when MTNL’s previous CMD, AK Garg, retired.

MTNL was one of two state-owned telecoms companies allowed to return their 4G spectrum in January last year.
