VimpelCom appoints former SFR chief as CEO

VimpelCom has named former SFR chief Jean-Yves Charlier as CEO, replacing Jo Lunder who steps down April 13.
Charlier served as chairman and CEO of SFR during 2012-2014. Prior to that, he was the CEO for education technology company Promethean World.
“Jean-Yves is the right person to lead our company in the next stage of its development and at this exciting time of market opportunity, as we enter the digital world focussing on enhancing our customer relationships and providing innovate and exciting services across all of our markets,” said Alexey Reznikovich, chairman of VimpelCom.
Lunder, who has held the position of CEO since July 2011, is leaving the company “to take up other opportunities” but will continue to serve as an advisor to the group until July 13.
