SES appoints chief development officer

Luxembourg’s SES has appointed Christophe De Hauwer as chief development officer (CDO) at the company, and member of its executive committee.

De Hauwer’s role will be effective of August 1 2015, and he will succeed Gerson Souto who is leaving the company for personal reasons and will return to his home country of Brazil.

De Hauwer has been with the company for over 10 years in a number of positions in strategic marketing, strategic and business planning and corporate development.

He leaves his position as SVP of fleet development and yield management at SES for the new role.

“In appointing Christophe De Hauwer, the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee have ensured a strong succession and a flawless transition,” said Karim Michel Sabbagh, president and CEO at SES.

“Christophe's deep knowledge of the industry and of SES, as well as his management skills, will help us to further deliver on our growth potential.”

In 2005, de Hauwer was instrumental in SES’ acquisition of New Skies, and in 2007, the investment in O3b Networks, where, since 2010, he has served as a board member.

Prior to joining SES, De Hauwer was a consultant at both Arthur Andersen Business Consulting and then Deloitte.
