Bridge Alliance selects Ericsson device connectivity platform for IoT

Bridge Alliance, an association comprising 36 mobile operators across Asia-Pacific, Middle East and Africa, has chosen to deploy Ericsson’s device connectivity platform (DCP) solution for the internet of things (IoT).

The partnership will see Ericsson deploy its DCP solution as a single platform to manage IoT for Bridge Alliance members.

“The combination of Ericsson’s technology leadership in IoT connectivity and Bridge Alliance’s geographical coverage is an unmatched vehicle for any device original equipment manufacturer (OEM) or enterprise looking to propel its business,” said Alessandro Adriani, CEO at Bridge Alliance.

“Offering this unified experience requires more than just harmonising interfaces across mobile operators. We have done more with Ericsson, including standardising our footprint on a common core network. This will truly guarantee harmonised sets of features and service levels within the footprint to our customers.”

As well as enabling OEMs, enterprises and service providers to deploy IoT solutions across multiple countries, Ericsson's solution is designed to reduce the barriers to deployment for these enterprises; keeping costs low and quality of service high.

“The partnership with the Bridge Alliance members to deploy the Ericsson DCP is a critical milestone to make the adoption of cellular services in IoT devices economically viable for device OEM and enterprises,” said Anders Lindblad, SVP, business unit Cloud & IP at Ericsson.

Ericsson has also teamed up with the Global M2M Association for the demonstration of IoT services using its DCP at mobile world congress (MWC) in Barcelona next month.
