Allied Fiber partners with Colo Atl for co-location services

US-based dark fibre firm Allied Fiber has partnered with Colo Atl for the delivery of co-location services on part of its fibre build across the Southeast of the country.

Allied Fiber’s Southeast route stretches 700 miles from Miami, Florida to Atlanta, Georgia, and the partnership with Colo Atl includes the solution providers’ SSAE 16 certified co-location facility and ability to provide redundancy and access to multiple Tier-1 network operators.

“Colo Atl offers us a number of critical amenities, including convenient and affordable interconnection options via a first-class carrier-neutral co-location facility in downtown Atlanta,” said Hunter Newby, Allied Fiber’s CEO.

The Colo Atl facility is also home to the Georgia Technology Center (GTC) – a testbed and live production unit for network communications – as well as the Southeast Network Access Point (SNAP), which provides next-generation internet exchange solutions.

“The collaboration opportunities and innovative spirit of the GTC and SNAP align perfectly with our marh to become the first national, open-access, integrated network-neutral co-location and dark fibre provider superstructure in the US,” Newby added.

“The arrangement is integral to the Jacksonville to Atlanta segment of our Southeast route.”

Allied Fiber’s business model comprises three components; high-count dark fibre cables, handholes for lateral splicing, and fully integrated, network-neutral co-location facilities such as Colo Atl’s.

“The facility has greatly expanded in the last year,” said Tim Kiser, owner and founder of Colo Atl.

“Our growth is directly attributable to folks like Allied Fiber and their desire to make a meaningful difference on how communications gets done.”
