Wind in talks to sell towers to Abertis

Italian operator Wind has begun exclusive talks to sell its mobile towers to Spain’s Abertis, reports Reuters.

The exclusive period between the VimpelCom unit and Spanish infrastructure company Abertis is expected to last a few days, according to the report.

Italy’s F2i, tower operator EI Towers and US fund Providence were also said to be interested in acquiring the towers.

Wind’s estate of approximately 6,300 transmission towers is valued at up to €800 million, which the operator plans to use to reduce its debt.
