Saudi Telecom appoints CEO

Saudi Telecom Company (STC) has appointed Khalid bin Hussain Biyari as chief executive at the company; nearly two years since the resignation of his predecessor.

Khaled Al-Ghoneim exited the company in March 2013 after less than a year in the position, with chairman Abdulaziz al-Sugair taking over as acting CEO until a replacement was found.

Biyari is the company’s existing SVP for technology and operations, as well as vice chairman of STC’s affiliate Viva Kuwait, and will take on his new role on April 27, 2015.

Sugair oversaw a number of developments in STC’s home market, including the launch of an LTE-A network in Saudi Arabia in February 2014, and an expansion of its FTTH coverage in the country in July 2013.
