Norway regulators postpone TeliaSonera/Tele2 decision

The competition authority of Norway has postponed its decision on whether to approve TeliaSonera’s acquisition of Tele2’s Norwegian operations, according to Reuters.

The watchdog, Konkurransetilsynet, has allegedly received a new proposal from TeliaSonera which it wants to consider before making a final decision.

“Given that we’ve now received a new proposal on alleviating measures, the new deadline is set to February 5,” a senior executive of the competition authority told reporters.

TeliaSonera revealed plans to acquire Tele2’s Norwegian arm for $744 million in July 2014, but later in December, Konkurransetilsynet said that it intended to refute the deal.
