Hibernia Networks has appointed Omar Altaji as chief commercial officer at the company, effective immediately.

With more than 28 years’ experience in the telecoms industry, Altaji will be responsible for Hibernia Networks’ marketing, product management, business development and sales operations.

Bjarni Thorvardarson, CEO at Hibernia Networks, said: “With Hibernia’s new Express trans-Atlantic cable going into service this summer, Omar’s industry insight and knowledge of the telecoms landscape will very much come into play to further enhance the company’s market position.”

Altaji founded Pangaea Technology Advisors in 2012, an advisory company focussed on telecoms and technology, and prior to that, was EVP and managing director of the carrier services business at Global Crossing.

“Over the years, I’ve come to know Hibernia as a reliable provider, a valued customer and a formidable competitor,” Altaji said.

“I am delighted to be a part of the Hibernia team at this stage of the company’s journey and look forward to taking Hibernia to new heights as we look to enhance our value proposition in support of our customers evolving needs, as well as accelerate profitable growth for our shareholders.”
