Tata DoCoMo has selected Nokia Networks single RAN technology for the upgrade of its 3G network in India.

The Indian operator expects the upgrade to address the steep growth in mobile broadband traffic in the country, and deliver better data services to its customers.

“This initiative underlines Tata DoCoMo’s focus on further enhancing customer experience by bringing best-in-class solutions for mobile data consumers in India,” said Neeraj Dindore, CTO at Tata DoCoMo.

“With its extensive knowledge about our infrastructure and expertise in executing similar deployments worldwide and more specifically in India, Nokia Networks was our natural choice for this project.”

The deal includes Nokia’s Flexi Multiradio 10 Base Station and its NetAct network management system, as well as project management services to ensure a smooth network roll-out.

“We have committed our resources and technology to ensure a rapid expansion of Tata DoCoMo’s network,” said Sandeep Girotra, head of India region at Nokia Networks.
