Telekom Austria Group offers LTE-A services in Austria and Slovenia
26 November 2014 |
Telekom Austria Group has begun offering LTE-Advanced services in selected locations in Austria and Slovenia.
The move will enable customers of its Austrian subsidiary A1 and Slovenian subsidiary Si.mobil to access higher bandwidth and transmission speeds.
In collaboration with Ericsson, A1 has been able to deploy LTE Carrier aggregation technology, based on two 20 MHz frequency blocks from the 800 and 2600 MHz frequency bands auctioned in autumn 2013. The service will initially be offered in the Styrian provincial capital Graz.
In Slovenia, meanwhile, the service is being offered in six cities.
“With LTE Carrier Aggregation we are taking an important step to provide our customers higher transmission rates and expand current capacities, allowing even more customers to experience the new LTE speeds,” said Günther Ottendorfer, CTO at Telekom Austria Group.
“I’m particularly delighted that the LTE development in the Austrian and the Slovenian network represents a perfect example of how knowledge transfer and the exchange of experiences within the group can function and how single subsidiaries can reap considerable benefits from group synergies and technological know-how transfer.”
