Belgacom sells Telindus to telent

Capacity Europe day 3 – Belgacom has reportedly sold networking, security, data centre and infrastructure services firm Telindus UK to UK telecoms firm telent.

The transaction is said to be subject to customary conditions and is due to close in the next few weeks.

When finalised, the deal is expected to boost telent’s IT capabilities, and help Telindus access a wider market.

“Becoming part of the telent group is an exciting new step for us and will significantly expand our sphere of activity, while contributing our expertise to telent’s overall offering,” said Mark Lowther, managing director of Telindus UK.

“The combination with telent will provide us with an additional scale to access the UK market.”

Telindus was founded in Belgium in 1969, and bought out by Belgacom in 2006. Telindus Spain and Ireland were sold in 2011 with Telindus France sold off earlier this year.

In August this year, Belgacom renewed its partner market agreement with the UK’s Vodafone.
