TI Sparkle partners with Israeli insurance group for disaster recovery site

Capacity Europe day 2 – Telecom Italia Sparkle’s Mediterranean subsidiary, MedNautilus, has partnered with Israeli finance and insurance firm Clal Group for the establishment of a disaster recovery site.

The agreement follows recent regulation in Israel promoting the facilitation of disaster recovery facilities outside of the country, in an attempt to provide stronger data storage and backup.

The disaster recovery site has been established in one of TI Sparkle’s sites outside of Israel, and will be directly connected through a fully protected submarine cable system.

The disaster recovery site will be located as close as possible to the cable landing station overseas, in order that a third-party supplier is not required, and to reduce overall service cost and risk.

MedNautilus claims to be the only player in Israel and the Mediterranean able to provide such an all-encompassing service, and Clal is expected to benefit from an end-to-end, seamless service.

TI Sparkle owns several datacentres in the Mediterranean, including three in Greece, one in Turkey and one in Sicily; hosting a number of large multinationals.

Telecom Italia Sparkle has been shortlisted in a number of categories, including best cloud partnership, for this evening’s Global Carrier Awards 2014 in Amsterdam.
