Verizon secures M2M deal with General Electric

Verizon is to provide its machine-to-machine connectivity and cloud platforms for General Electric’s (GE) software-enabled machines and devices.
The M2M alliance will provide GE with value added services such as remote monitoring, diagnostics and the ability to resolve maintenance issues virtually.
The two organisations are also said to be in the early stages of discussions to collaborate on a single global SIM for global connectivity.
“We look forward to using the power of our network and cloud platforms to enhance our long-standing relationship with GE so that together we can create new business models across the industrial internet to meet the increasingly complex demands of customers,” said Mark Bartolomeo, head of IoT connected solutions at Verizon.
