Telkom Indonesia mulls stake in Spark NZ

Telkom Indonesia is reportedly considering the acquisition of a 27% stake in Spark Telecom (formerly Telecom New Zealand) as part of its strategy to broaden its global footprint.

According to local reports, Telkom Indonesia is looking to move into 10 foreign markets by the end of the year, and Spark Telecom is its next target.

A Telkom representative said it could not confirm the name of the company due to an NDA with the operator, but market watchers have speculated that Spark – which holds a 36% market share in New Zealand – is a likely choice.

Telkom Indonesia recently acquired a 75% stake in Contact Centers Australia (CCA) for $9.7 million, and in August, revealed plans to invest in Silicon Valley in the US.
