Egypt’s Orascom Telecom Media and Technology (OTMT) has announced the appointment of Ahmed Abou Doma as CEO, following the resignation of Karim Beshara.

Beshara will also resign from his position on the board of directors at OTMT, and Doma will succeed his position with immediate effect.

Naguib Sawiris, executive chairman of the board at Orascom, said: “I would like to thank Karim for his hard work, which paved the way for OTMT and served as a solid foundation for this company to take off on the road of success.”

OTMT’s activities predominately include GSM, media and technology and cable, and Sawiris said that he had “great confidence” in Doma’s abilities to continue the success of the company.

“I would like to thank the board of directors at OTMT, and particularly Naguib Sawiris, for putting their trust in me to take on this exciting mandate at such challenging times in the telecoms industry at large and in the Egyptian economy,” Doma said.

“Moreover, I would like to thank Karim Beshara for his great effort that will be the solid foundation on which the company will pursue new heights in the world of communications and achieve further expansion and success.”
