Telenor CEO to exit role in 2015

Jon Frederik Baksaas, CEO at Norway’s Telenor, is to exit his role at the end of 2015, the company’s board told reporters today.

With more than a decade in the position – and having been a Telenor employee since 1989 – Baksaas has overseen a number of expansions into new markets, including Myanmar, Pakistan and Montenegro.

In January 2013, Baksaas was named one of the world’s top 100 CEOs by the Harvard Business Review, and following his departure, he will remain on Telenor’s board as an advisor for 12 months.

Telenor increased its full-year margin guidance after reporting second quarter earnings that were in line with the company’s expectations earlier this year.
