EE extends 4G coverage in the UK

EE has extended its 4G network in the UK to 13 new locations.

The UK operator now covers 75% of the population, including 263 towns and cities and over 2,500 villages and small towns.

As of today, EE’s 4G service is also available in Buckingham, Burntwood, Chesham, Chesterfield, Dalkeith (Scotland), Glossop, Hertford, Rugeley, Sheerness, Thornaby-on-Tees, Ware, Wickford and Witney.

“Our fast, nationwide roll-out continues, with hundreds of new sites being switched on every month to bring 4G to more places, often giving people a fast broadband experience for the very first time,” said Olaf Swantee, EE CEO.

In July, EE announced the addition of 1.3 million customers to its 4G network in Q2 this year and claimed that take-up of its mobile broadband service was the fastest in Europe.

In June, EE revealed plans to ramp up its investment in voice, and began trialling a voice-over-Wifi service. The £275 million investment will also see the operator begin trialling 4G VoLTE calls later this year.
