MTS Ukraine to restore mobile services across eastern Ukraine
12 August 2014 | Kavit Majithia
MTS Ukraine has reportedly restored mobile services in 43 locations across eastern Ukraine, after previously suspending its operations in the region.
The company is now operating services in the cities of Luhansk, Maryupol, Donetsk, Makyyvka, Torez and other locations, and the company is still continuing work in areas affected by recent military action.
During the outage, the company introduced a section on its website with information on network status in areas of eastern Ukraine to show subscribers where the network was running.
Separately, MTS Ukraine has announced it will commence roaming in Crimea, after recognising it as operating as a separate country.
The company said it will now resume operations to use technical roaming in networks for Russia’s new operator, K-telecom, as part of the Vin-mobile brand.
However, mobile operator Kyistar has reportedly suspended its operations in Crimea.
