Level 3 has announced plans to expand its executive team by integrating two tw telecom executives, following its acquisition of the company last month.

John Blount, tw president and COO, is an 18-year company veteran and will serve as Level 3’s regional president for the company’s operations across the North America and Asia-Pacific regions.

Andrew Crouch, who presently heads up those regions, will become regional president for Europe, Middle East and Africa.

The second tw executive to join will be Harold Teets, SVP of information and network technologies, who will take over Level 3’s IT organisation as Chief Information Officer (CIO).

Level 3 signed an agreement last month to acquire tw telecom in a cash and stock transaction worth $5.7 billion.

"I look forward to welcoming John and Harold from tw telecom. Their combined experience and insights will be invaluable in capitalising on our strengths and improving the customer experience," said Level 3 CEO Jeff Storey, who will remain in that role.

The deal – which is expected to close in Q4 2014 – is Level 3’s biggest acquisition to date.
