SingTel launches first full telephony VoLTE suite

SingTel has launched a portfolio of VoLTE services in partnership with technology firms Samsung and Ericsson.

The suite of services – named 4G ClearVoice – offers telephony services over LTE, including call waiting and forwarding, and making voice calls.

The carrier says that it is the first commercial VoLTE service to offer a full suite of telephony features.

“As the first full-featured VoLTE service in the world, 4G ClearVoice is a true breakthrough in the mobile industry. It complements our efforts in delivering the fastest mobile broadband services in Singapore. Customers will enjoy the flexibility of making calls and using ultra-high-speed 4G mobile data services at the same time,” said Johan Buse, VP of consumer marketing at SingTel.

The service is said to offer higher-quality calls than conventional mobile voice services and connects calls in less than two seconds, which is much faster than conventional mobile calls.

4G ClearVoice is equipped with Single Radio Voice Call Continuity (SRVCC) capability, which automatically switches ongoing calls without interruption to the 3G network if customers lose their 4G connection.

In April, SingTel and Samsung announced four joint initiatives designed to enhance mobile data services for customers.
