TeliaSonera launches 4G roaming solution

Nordic carrier TeliaSonera International Carrier has launched a new 4G roaming solution designed to enable operators to provide high-speed LTE services abroad.

The Diameter Roaming Exchange (DRX) service is said to optimise cost and service quality for 4G roaming.

“This is what we mean by anywhereization; our customers need to cater to the increasing end-user demand for instant access to everything, anywhere,” said Simon Dodsworth, VP and head of voice and mobile for TeliaSonera. “It is the ideal time to be launching our DRX service to mobile operators worldwide.”

The solution includes a managed option which is said to simplify operations while reducing operator hardware investments.

“Our managed option is an easy to implement, no CAPEX solution for MNOs as already proven by TeliaSonera’s Nordic operations,” said Bernd Hoogkamp, head of product management for voice and mobile for TeliaSonera International Carrier.

In April this year TeliaSonera has said it may have broken the law in a number of Eurasian markets, after more concerns were raised over its business dealings in Uzbekistan.
