Orange rolls out 3G in Kenya

Orange has deployed a 3G network in Uasin Gishu County, Kenya, according to local reports.

The network will initially cover Eldoret town, Iten and the Moi University and is part of the French operator’s strategy to connect all counties in Kenya to Orange’s high-speed network.

“Our 3G network footprint in Kenya now covers Nairobi, Kisumu, Mombasa and Eldoret and will progressively move towards other areas of the country,” said Mickael Ghossein, CEO at Orange Kenya.

Kenyan industry regulator, the Communications Commission of Kenya (CCK) has highlighted that Orange has the best 3G network in the country in terms of quality of service.

Earlier this year, Orange said it was reviewing its operations in Kenya and Uganda due to drop in revenues in 2013.
